한남동에서 스튜디오 HEEWONE을 운영하고 있는 바느질 작가 최희주입니다.
저는 한국의 전통 천연 섬유인 모시, 삼베, 무명 등을 소재로 마음이 쉬어 갈 수 있는 오브제,
순한 생활을 위한 일상의 소품들을 짓고 있습니다.
매일의 산책 중에 만난 꽃, 열매, 나무....등에서 영감을 받아 계절을 집안에 두고 즐길 수 있는 꽃잎, 콩, 풋감, 푸른 구름...등의
오브제 작업과 바다, 산 능선의 흘러가는 선을 담아 삼베함, 차도구 등을 만들고 있습니다.
요즘은 바라보는것만으로도 든든한 위안을 주는 액막이모시명태 작업을 주로 하고 있습니다.
모시와 삼베는 불규칙한 섬유의 결과 빳빳한 질감, 한지를 바른 창호처럼 은은하게 비치는 느낌이 매력적인 천입니다.
전통 천의 아름다운 결을 즐길 수 있는여백과 질감을 살린 다양한 형태의 작업을 선보이려 합니다.

Choi, Heeju is a sewing artist who runs Studio Heewone in Hannam-dong.
She makes objects and everyday props that bring warmth to your daily life using Korean traditional natural fibers such as ramie, hemp, and cotton.
Her works incorporate appearances of floral leaves, beans, green persimmons, and blue clouds that are inspired by the flowers, fruits, and trees
she sees during her daily walk and that convey a sense of season in the house.
Her hemp boxes and tea utensils express the flowing sea lines and mountain ridges.
Her latest works are ramie pollacks, which comfort those who look at them.
Ramie and hemp are fabrics that are woven together irregularly, that are rough in texture,
and that allow light to slightly shine through just like hanji (Korean paper) windows.
She plans on displaying various works in a space where visitors can enjoy the beautiful texture of traditional fabrics.

액막이 모시 명태
명태의 눈으로 나쁜 기운은 대신 다 쫓아 내고 곱게 감은 실타래로 모든 복이 내려오길 바라는 마음을 담아 만들었습니다.
천에 무리가 가지 않도록 조심조심 몸통을 만들고, 동글동글 명태의 알같은 동그란 솜을 채우고, 푸른 실로 눈과 머리의 수를 놓고 꼬리는 금사로 장식했습니다.
질 좋은 무명실을 기원의 마음을 담아 한줄 한줄 곱게 감아 타래를 만들어 명태를 꿰었습니다.
바라보면 마음이 고요해지고 웃음지을 수 있는 사물이 되길. 그래서 매일 매일 좋은 일만 있길 기원합니다.

차를 마시는 시간은 마음도 쉬는 시간입니다.
흘러가는 스티치의 선 위에 마음을 잠시 놓아 보세요.
흘러가는 선은 물결이 될 수도 있고 흘러가는 산등성이가 될 수도 있고 한줄기 바람이 될 수도 있습니다.
쉬어가길 바라는 마음을 담아 만들었습니다.

하얀 삼베 티슈 케이스
집을 아무리 꾸미고 치워도 자꾸 눈에 거슬리는 티슈 상자를 아이들이 학교를 다닐 때 아침마다 챙겨주었던
휴대용 티슈 커버가 생각나 크게 만들어 집에서 사용할 수 있는 티슈 케이스를 만들었습니다.
향균성과 항독성이 있는 삼베로 만들어 티슈를 넣어 두어도 안심입니다.
가끔씩 손으로 살짝 눌러 빨면 더욱 깨끗이, 또 다른 질감을 느끼실 수 있습니다.
Amulet Ramie Pollack
The eyes of pollacks remove bad energy, and the finely wound threads collect all the good fortune.
The artist made the body, taking care not to pull too hard on the fabric, filled the fabric with cotton balls that resemble pollack eggs,
embroidered the eyes and head with blue thread, and decorated the tail with gold thread.
Completed pollacks were then tied to a skein made by finely winding high-quality cotton yarn, thread after thread, with a heart of prayer.
That may be why your heart quiets down when you look at it.
The artist hopes these pollacks will become an object that makes visitors smile and wishes everyone all the best for the future.

White Burlap Tissue Case
This tissue case can be used at home.
It reminds us of the portable tissue cover children used to bring with them every morning when they went to school.
The product is made of burlap, which has antibacterial and anti-toxic properties, so you can feel reassured that it is safe to hold tissues.
Occasionally, you can wash the product gently with your hands to make the case cleaner or enjoy a different texture.
