(Interior Items for Tyrants, I.I.T.)’
I.I.T. (Interior Items for Tyrants) is a design brand project with a unique mission to develop interior and living items tailored for unjust tyrants.
The project focuses on creating decorative works, which are produced in collaboration with producers or designers specializing in various fields.
The product line encompasses a range of items, from interior accessories to everyday essentials.
The primary goal of this project is to offer products that would appeal to tyrannical figures while donating the proceeds to public welfare, thereby establishing a positive cycle of giving back.
As part of Kim Beom's personal exhibition, "How to Become a Rock," in partnership with Leeum Store, a diverse array of items such as fans, umbrellas, cups, soaps, and postcards have been developed and are available for purchase.
"Triumph of Evil" is an intricately designed pattern that serves as a visual representation of unjust oppression, violence, and the plight of innocent victims.
This semiabstract pattern incorporates various elements such as skulls and chains, which are derived from the shapes of wolves and victims.
The pattern was created in 2016 using the stencil method and applied to large-scale wall tiles during the artist's residency at STPI, a renowned printmaking workshop based in Singapore.
The title of the artwork comes from a quote by Irish politician Edmund Burke (1729-1797): "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
